Bands Against Bush

symbolic abstract artistic energy

I'm trying to remember the passion and outrage and active creativity that got me interested in connecting music and bands to politcal action!

Passion, confrontation, breaking the rules, breaking the rules of the form, trading bravado for sympathy, celebrating the power of self-confidence and self-actualization... each of us will have different values and different musical touchstones that we use to represent those values to ourselves. But as we work through the nuts and bolts of getting our organization going, it's useful, for myself at least, to get back to the energy, the symbolic abstract artistic energy, of the music that personally inspires me and keeps me moving.

I believe that as people who have selected themselves to be part of Bands Against Bush we all live partly in our personal, abstract emotional world of music; the music we make, or listen to, or jump around to, or carry with us all the time in our heads.

So I'm sharing with you my entirely personal and imaginary between-band Bands Against Bush dj set:

Manzanar - Channel 3
(Take Back) The Revolution - The Gossip
Enron - Hamburgers and Hotdogs
Police Force - The Dicks
Fire in the Western World - Dead Moon
Truth Doesn't Make A Noise - White Stripes
Are You Hungry, Joe? - Mecca Normal
Now Is The Time - Wipers
Get Off the Internet - Le Tigre
