CAUSES OF EMERGENCE

Required text: The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It - Jonathan Zittrain

Rationale: One of this program’s major learning objectives is that students will become fluent with innovation and the technologies that are creating new business and communication platforms. Students should understand how different languages power different applications and gain some practical experience in programming. This course has been designed to give students an overview of current languages and an introduction to their usage.

Course Overview:


  1. weeks 1-5: HTML/CSS/Web Authoring
  2. weeks 6-10: Processing/basics of scripting
  3. weeks 11-15: Flash/Actionscript
(integrated throughout the term will be readings, lectures and/or other activities toward developing a critical framework for understanding programmable technologies)
