Official course description:
The conceptual and practical production of digital art, primarily focusing on the manipulation and generation of moving images and sounds from within a computer environment.

- interactivity
- appropriation
- manipulation of video/moving image
- expanded screens
- introduction to open source tools and philosophy
- machine vision
- data visualization
- surveillance and tracking
- using the web as a medium
A partial list of likely tools:
- Processing (interactive moving image manipulation and animation)
- Flash (interactive moving image manipulation and animation)
- Smultron (text editor for writing HTML, etc)
- During the term, students may find themselves using other programs as well such as Photoshop, Fireworks or Gimp (for image editing), SuperCollider, Audacity, PD or Garageband (for audio), Dreamweaver (for website design), and AfterEffects, FinalCut or iMovie (for moving image editing and post-production).
